BASIC
Click here to search a number of different types of library materials. The BASIC tab is an easy way to begin your research, especially if you do not know exactly what you are looking for (titles of books, titles of journal articles, and/or author's name). BASIC search terms are treated as keyword searches so when you develop your search, use a variety of synonyms. For example, when searching for material on "teenagers" the following search terms can be used: "teenagers," "high school students," and "adolescents."

BOOKS
Click here to search books in the library's collection. The BOOK tab works best when you are searching for a known item (you know the exact title of a book, an author's name, a call number, or an International Standard Book Number [ISBN].) Be sure to limit your search to the known part of the item by using the drop menu (for example you can search for a specific title or author or call number etc.). When you do not have a specific book in mind, but know that you want books, and then start your search by using the default “general keyword” search. For suggestions on proper Library of Congress Subject Headings search terms, please ask a reference librarian or log on to Ask-A-Librarian 24/7.
