Configure Auto Updates for McAfee

McAfee provides a regular update of the VirusScan virus definition files (usually weekly, but more often if new viruses appear). Each new set of virus definition data (.DAT) files detects new viruses and may add new features to VirusScan.

To configure your Mcafee VirusScan to automatically download and install the latest update files. Perform the following steps:

  1. On the Windows Task Bar, click Start > Programs > McAfee > VirusScan Console.
  2. In the VirusScan Console window, double-click AutoUpdate.
  3. In the AutoUpdate window, click the Schedule button.
  4. In the Schedule Settings window, select the Task tab and select the Enable check box.
  5. Select the Schedule tab and configure it as follows:
    Schedule Task: Daily
    Start Time: 5:00 P.M.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click OK to close the Schedule Settings window.
  8. In the AutoUpdate window, click OK.
  9. Close the VirusScan Console window.
