Social Action

Aside from our outstanding faculty, world-class community outreach programs, and unique location, much of Mville’s character derives from our students. Last year they contributed over 20,000 hours of service while gaining valuable experience in areas such as management, teaching, and advocacy. Indeed, at Mville, theory meets practice when the college engages the world at local and global levels. Whatever you're passionate about, we've probably got a program or club that addresses the issue.

The Duchesne Center is the heart of community service/service learning at Manhattanville. Although not all of Mville’s service programs are run by the Duchesne Center, it does coordinate many of them. Its mission is to promote programs that endeavor to create a climate in which all Manhattanville College members will value an appreciation for the differences among us.

Manhattanville College has developed a strong relationship over the years with local communities, and has cultivated over 40 alliances with different organizations. These organizations include the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, the White Plains Youth Bureau, and local Humane Societies.

The Connie Hogarth Center for Social Action works towards promoting social, political and economic awareness amongst the student body and seeks to mobilize the campus to efficiently create change.

“My Soldier” is a program that puts politics aside and lets U.S. soldiers know that someone back home cares. The goal of the program is to show support for troops serving in hardship areas by establishing pen-pal relationships. The program also offers community service awards to eligible high school students.
