The Princeton Review selects Manhattanville in the "Best 389 Colleges for 2024”
PURCHASE, NY, August 15 – Manhattanville College is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduates according to The Princeton Review’s new edition of its annual college guide, The Best 389 Colleges: 2024 Edition, published this week.
Manhattanville has appeared on this prestigious list for more than 15 years. Only about 15% of America’s 2,600 four-year colleges are profiled in the book. The Princeton Review chooses the colleges for the book based on data it annually collects from surveys of 2,000 college administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings. The company also reviews data from its surveys of college students attending the schools who report on their experiences at their institutions.

In the profile on Manhattanville, The Princeton Review editors praise the school for its “very diverse” community. As one student explains, “I have made friends from all different
backgrounds, states, and countries." Princeton Review also notes that "Just as critically, people here are 'willing to embrace different cultures, ethnicities, sexualities, and personality types,' and quote Manhattanville students surveyed for this project. Some of the student comments in the profile include: Manhattanville College provides “endless opportunities to find your passion and get involved.” Undergraduates appreciate the “close-knit relationships,” the “diverse course selection,” and the way the school provides “many connections for internships and jobs” while also serving to “help you build your portfolio as a young professional.” Students give credit where it’s due, praising professors who often act as “amazing resources” and generally “bring a lot of expertise into their classrooms.” Students at Manhattanville appreciate that professors strive to “teach in a way that makes learning interesting and fun” and that “no matter what the students need, there is always an office, a person, or department ready, willing, and able to help out.”
The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book hierarchically, from 1 to 389. However, the book has 50 categories of ranking lists. Each list names the top 25 schools (of those in the book) in its category. The ranking lists are entirely based on The Princeton Review’s surveys of 165,000 students at the 389 schools in the book. The company’s 85-question student survey asked students to rate their colleges on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences at them. In a "Survey Says" sidebar in the book's profile on Manhattanville, The Princeton Review lists topics that students the company surveyed were in most agreement about in their answers on the survey. The list includes: “Students are happy,” “Theatre is popular,” and “Active minority support groups.”
