Audition and Portfolio Requirements

Evaluated by a panel of expert faculty members, the entrance audition or portfolio review measures your current level of artistry as well as your predicted ability to successfully complete the curriculum.

The audition or portfolio review is also used to recommend scholarships for students.

  • A portfolio submission is encouraged but NOT required for entry to the Art (Studio) program.
  • Auditions are required for students pursuing Commercial Dance, Musical Theatre, or Theatre.

For all prospective students wishing to pursue a BA in Art, you are strongly encouraged to submit a portfolio for review.

Visual Portfolio should consist of:

15-20 works of art: Include drawings from observation. Consider your best and most recent work as a part of your portfolio. Presentation should consist of a variety of media and approaches. Include assignment-based projects, self-directed work and sketchbooks, and/or samples of creative writing.

The portfolio does not need to focus on a single discipline. Considered a variety of artwork, including paintings, drawings, printmaking, sculpture, photographs, ceramics, and digital art.

Try to limit the artwork using grid systems drawings and paintings

Try to limit replicas of other artist's work, replicating anime drawings, cartoons, and video game character designs.
