Alison Carson
Alison S. Carson is the Associate Provost at Manhattanville University. In her role of Associate Provost, Alison oversees a number of academic areas, including the Center for Career Development, the Center for Student Accessibility, the Andrew Bodenrader Center for Writing and Composition, the Academic Resource Center, and the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship, which includes the Office of Instructional Technology. Alison also serves as the Director for the Center for Design Thinking, and teaches courses in design thinking, contributing to our Certificate in Design Thinking. In her capacity of Associate Provost, she also sits on the Steering Committee of the 2022-2027 Manhattanville Strategic Plan.
Prior to her current role, Alison was a member of the Psychology Department since 2003. She is a cultural psychologist and taught courses in her area of expertise such as Psychology and Culture, Psychology of Identity; and Advanced Seminar in Cultural Psychology. Prof. Carson received her training as a cultural psychologist and completed her doctoral degree from Boston College in 2000, and a B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College in 1995. Prof. Carson's dissertation research investigated conceptions of fairness comparing an urban and rural community in the Philippines.
