Dr. Elana Light is a clinical psychologist at Manhattanville’s Counseling Center, where she counsels undergraduate students with a range of academic, relational, and emotional concerns. Prior to working at Manhattanville University, she was employed as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Pace University in their Counseling Center. In addition to individual and group psychotherapy, she also led outreach initiatives in stress management and alcohol and other drug use. At Pace, Dr. Light was trained in self-hypnosis, brief relational therapy, and group therapy. She completed her clinical internship at Cambridge Hospital, where she received specialized training psychological testing, primary care psychology, and outpatient psychotherapy. She treated a diagnostically and culturally diverse patient population and assessed high risk clients in a psychiatric emergency service. Previous training included neuropsychological assessment among oncology patients and psychological assessment with adolescents in a state psychiatric facility.

Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. Light received a master’s degree in public health. For eight years she evaluated children’s mental health programs, including a college suicide prevention initiative. Dr. Light received her bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary, Master of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health, and Doctor of Psychology from Long Island University.
