Pre-Health Advising and the Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee
In addition to offering the coursework required for the various pre-health programs, Manhattanville has a Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee (PHPAC) as well as campus pre-health advisors available to assist students in preparing for admission to a graduate health professions program. This includes medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary, optometry, physical therapy, and other health-related fields.
Students considering a career in one of these fields will also be assigned to one of our pre-health and/ or professional advisors upon enrollment to Manhattanville. These advisors help our pre-health students plan their schedules to ensure they complete all the courses necessary for their proposed career prior to applying for graduate school in their final year of undergraduate study.
Majors Available to Pre-Health Students at Manhattanville
Although most pre-health students decide to study biology or a related natural science as their undergraduate degree, pre-health students can major in any subject! In addition for those students pursuing a degree in a field beyond one in the natural sciences, Manhattanville offers either a minor in pre-medical/ pre-dental studies or a Certificate in Health Sciences for those students.

Letter of Support for Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences
Manhattanville offers qualified students an opportunity to apply for an Official Committee Recommendation Letter when they are ready to apply to a professional program (e.g.- medical school). Requests for this letter are reviewed by the Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee (PHPAC) in the student’s application year and the student may receive a letter if they meet PHPAC criteria (e.g. minimum of a 3.3 overall GPA and a minimum of a 3.3 GPA in pre-health courses). Students are also given the opportunity to practice their interview skills with the PHPAC members.
