Computer Science Accelerated Program
Computer Science Accelerated Dual Degree Program Overview
Manhattanville’s five-year dual degree program combines the bachelor’s degree program in computer science with the Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science degree program, enabling students to seamlessly transition to graduate studies and earn both a bachelor’s and master’s in this fast-growing field in just one extra year after completing the bachelor’s degree program.
Two 4+1 accelerated computer science program pathways are available:
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) Computer Science + MS Computer Science
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Computer Science + MS Computer Science
The BA pathway offers students more freedom to pursue another major and tailor electives to their interests. Students in the BS degree program complete more focused and intensive studies in either a computer science track or a math and data science track. High-quality internships at the Data Lab, research-driven class projects that involve designing real websites and apps for clients, and an integrated capstone project in the master’s program give students the opportunity to build their portfolios before they graduate.
By holding a combined bachelor’s and MS in Computer Science, students enter the workforce with a competitive edge. Their technical skills mean they can apply for more advanced roles and demand higher wages than other candidates.

Career opportunities for computer scientists have been expanding for several decades — and show no signs of stopping. The projected job growth rate for the field is 23%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, much faster than average for other occupations. This is due in large part to computer science professionals being in high demand in industries beyond the tech sector. With a combined BA/BS and MS in Computer Science, graduates can launch careers in healthcare, finance, e-commerce, energy, government, business, engineering, and even space.
Dual computer science degree jobs include:
- AI and Machine Learning Engineer
- Blockchain Engineer
- Computer and Information Research Scientist
- Information Analyst
- Information Security Manager
- QA/Test Engineer
- Robotics Engineer
- Software Developer
- Systems Software Engineer
- UX/UI Product Designer
Though some senior-level positions still require years of work experience, a master’s degree increases the salary potential for candidates applying to their first or entry-level role. Holding a graduate degree can also shorten the time it takes to move up the corporate ladder.
Salaries With a Combined BA/BS and MS in Computer Science
When you enter the workforce with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, computer science salaries are usually higher than those for candidates with just a bachelor’s degree alone. With every year of additional work experience, your salary potential also increases. Many computer scientists can command six-figure wages — for example, the median pay for computer and information research scientists in 2022 was $136,620. According to the Bureau Of Labor Statistics, possible salary outcomes for graduates include:
- Software Developers, Quality Assurance Analysts, and Testers - $124,200
- Computer Network Architects - $126, 900
- Computer and Information Systems Managers - $164,070
