PURCHASE, NY, June 2023 – Following a competitive 6-month proposal process, Manhattanville College has chosen Sodexo as the college’s new dining services partner, replacing Chartwell’s, beginning on July 15, 2023. A trusted leader in the industry, Sodexo was selected based on its demonstrated ability to deliver high quality dining and catering services that will help the college serve its diverse population and build community.

With the introduction this summer of “Valiant Dining,” Sodexo’s dining program will align with Manhattanville’s overall strategic priorities, ensuring each student enjoys a connected experience on campus that supports their academic pursuits. Starting in the fall, Sodexo will hold student and campus community forums to ensure the dining program continuously evolves based on the needs and preferences of Manhattanville students, faculty, and staff.

“The Manhattanville community has diverse dining needs,” said Sodexo Area Executive Chef Eric Mueller. “Valiant Dining will bring wholesome, made-from-scratch menus, on-trend dining options, innovative scan-and-go technologies, and options that support student dietary needs, lifestyles, and schedules. Partnerships with local New York restaurants will bring local food favorites to campus and support local businesses.”

As part of its discussions with Sodexo, Sodexo has agreed to interview current dining employees. Members of Manhattanville’s management team and Chartwell’s management met with Chartwells employees to notify them of the transition to Sodexo. Sodexo expressed an intent to retain the vast majority of Chartwell’s hourly workforce, many of whom have been dedicated Chartwell employees and members of the Manhattanville community for a decade or more.

Sodexo will hold meetings with current Chartwell’s employees in the coming days. This will be an opportunity for Chartwells’ employees to talk with Sodexo representatives about their plans for the transition.

“Our people are our greatest asset,” said Sodexo Senior Vice President Daniel Auger. “We recognize that many dining employees are an integral part of the Manhattanville community, having built strong relationships with students, faculty and staff, we would like that to continue.”

Manhattanville’s Vice President for Finance and Operations Alan Gallantar said, “We are working to ensure a smooth transition between Chartwells and Sodexo and look forward to expanding dining concepts for faculty, staff and students, as well as, our catering offerings”.

Sodexo’s Campus segment provides food service and facilities management to colleges and universities across the U.S. and globally. With nearly 50 years of experience, Sodexo focuses on improving and impacting the student experience every day, for today and tomorrow.
