Salary and Outlook for Cybersecurity Majors

The cybersecurity career field is one of the fastest growing, and also one of the highest paid. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, information security analysts are projected to grow 32% between 2022-2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.

Given the critical importance of technical skills in cybersecurity procedures and the capacity for making informed decisions in technology interactions, graduates with a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity are well-positioned to earn average yearly salaries above six figures, according to the BLS.

As graduates gain years of experience, pursue graduate education, or obtain specialized certifications, there is a significant potential for salary increases. While factors like location also influence salary potential, advanced roles in cybersecurity demand a higher level of expertise and offer correspondingly higher compensation, reflecting the value and impact of these professionals in protecting digital assets and information systems.

Data Lab

At Manhattanville's Data Lab, students, faculty, and local businesses come together to solve real-world cybersecurity and data science issues using the skills of our Cybersecurity major and computer science students.
You can assist a local business in implementing a data management system, evaluate the security of computer networks, or collaborate with faculty on your own project. Completing a personal project or enrolling in an Independent Study course with a cybersecurity professor at the Data Lab counts as an internship. Any experiences at the Data Lab can be used to demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and research experience on your resume, showcasing real impact on a client project.
