Preparing Future Teachers and School Leaders
The Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification provides an organizational structure that facilitates a seamless experience from admission to licensure recommendation for education students who are seeking initial or professional NYS certification. The Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification supports the School of Education’s mission to prepare candidates to become ethically and socially responsible teachers and school leaders for participation in the educational community.
Under the umbrella of the Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification are several important offices and programs that support the success of our candidates.
Professional Development Schools (PDS) Network
Our network of Professional Development Schools is a collaborative arrangement that provides opportunities for candidates to receive mentoring from experienced teachers and supervision from Manhattanville faculty. This arrangement also facilitates opportunities for Manhattanville faculty and candidates to explore the integration of theory and practice.
Office of Accelerated Teacher Certification Programs
The Office of Accelerated Teacher Certification Programs provides support for candidates who are seeking accelerated pathways to initial NYS teaching certification. Through intensive classroom practice and expert mentoring, these pathways focus on the key skills and pedagogy that excellent teachers need to have.
